Тело очень крупное, тонкое, иногда красновато-сероватого тона. Поверхность панциря гладкая или с точками, зёрнами. Нога тонкая. Длинный палец прямой, правый рудиментарный изогнутый. У их основания 3–4 маленькие щетинки. Общая длина 570–810, длина тела 326–460, пальцев: левого 240–350, правого 56 мк.
Евразия, Северная Америка (США), Южная Америка (Парагвай).
Широко распространен.
Кислые и щелочные воды, прибрежная часть.
Среди водной растительности.
Очень низкая численность.
