Спинной киль широкий, с поперечными складками (3–4), сверху имеющий вид плетёнки. На брюшной стороне выемки переднего края с зубчиками (около 20 мк). Общая длина 175–225, длина панциря 120–135, ширина 80–95, длина пальцев 25–40 мк.
Евразия (Средняя Азия, Европа, Китай, Япония), Южная Америка (Бразилия), Северная Америка (США), Новая Зеландия.
Широко распространен.
Среди прибрежной растительности или небольшие заросшие водоёмы.
