Дорсовентрально сплющенный панцирь с плотно сросшимися спинной и брюшной пластинами. Спинная выпуклая, брюшная плоская. Поверхность гладкая обычно, панцирь широкоэллиптический или овальный, отверстие для ноги большое, округло-прямоугольное. Пальцы прямые, короткие,разделённые, одинаковой длины, заострённые. Длина панциря 77–100, ширина 53–65, длина пальцев 21–23.
Евразия.
Широко распространен.
Лужи, среди сфагнума, во мху ручья, стоячие воды.
Очень низкая численность.
