Голое веретенообразное тело, на котором имеются округлые чёрные пятна. За анальным плавником хвостовой отдел не сжат с боков. На губах 3 пары усиков. Хвостовой плавник чаще равнолопастной, с небольшой выемкой.
Туводная рыба, свойственная медленно текущим водоемам.
Балхаш-Алакольский бассейн. Бассейны рек Талас, Шу
предгорное и горное течения рек, горные озера озера
Созревает в 2 года. Размножаеться с апреля до октября.
